On May 28th the Men’s 1st XV travelled to Helensburgh to play in the Helensburgh 7’s tournament.
The team started well against a strong Oban side with Bishopton leading at half time. Oban came back in the second half and the game ended in a draw.
In the second game of the afternoon Bishopton faced a fast and powerful Glasgow Accies side. For periods of the match Bishopton matched up well but in the end the Accies ran out comfortable winners.
The final pool game was against the Helensburgh Barbarians side. Bishopton played some great attacking rugby and defended superbly to secure a dominant victory.
After finishing 3rd in their pool the team faced off against Loch Lomond in the Bowl Final. This was a fiery affair with both teams having played each other in the league regularly in recent years. After a quick start Bishopton were able to run up the score and win the Bowl without conceding any points in the final.
Looking forward; the Men’s team will travel to Arran to take part in the Arran 7’s on June 11th. After taking part in that tournament the team will break for summer and pre-season will begin at the start of July with a focus on S&C, the club has organised specialist help with Kris Hughes supporting the S&C elements of pre-season.
