On Saturday the 20th of June Bishopton Rugby hosted a Rugby Golf day for its Senior and Youth sections in line with the current social distancing conditions set forth by the government on what should have been Bishopton Day. The idea thought up by club coach David Jackson, was utilised to get families and players back out and enjoy some much-missed time outdoors.

A 9-hole course was designed, and a booking system put in place to ensure that there were limited people at Holmpark at any one time, a hygiene station set up where all balls were washed in bleach and a hand sanitiser and wipes were available.

With Bishopton Day having been cancelled the course holes named after events at Bishopton Day. The day was a huge success with slots filled every 15 minutes from 10:30am to 16:30 in the afternoon with over 50 people out across the course of the day soaking in the sun and enjoying the fun, all while employing social distancing.

The day was a great success with many youths relishing the chance to get into wide open space and the chance to do something fun, letting their excitement run wild, every parent that attended the event could not speak highly enough of the organisation of the event and allow for the break in routines that everyone has come to in the last months.

The club was please with the outcome of the event and is looking to run a further Rugby Golf day and get more members down to keep the community spirit up in these difficult times.
