Dear Member,

We had two great kids christmas parties, with santa and just usual antics and a barrel full of mulled wine. Captains curry night tomorrow and more social events in the pipeline...

Message from the President

Hi folks, just an update with what’s been happening at our wonderful club.  We have been through a particularly tough couple of months where we have lost a founder member in Ivel Sutherland who I personally went through primary & secondary school with, my thoughts are with his family.  In October, we lost Matthew Seymour at the tender age of 21, first team stalwart who I personally had the privilege of seeing this young man growing into a true gentleman in his own right.  Our club will sincerely miss both of these characters, but will be forever in its memory.  Matthew’s family are overwhelmed by the support from all at Bishopton Rugby Club and can’t thank everyone enough.  The family and rugby club would also like to thank the wider rugby club community for their messages and actions of support, in particular the SRU.

On Saturday 3rd January 2015 we are having a day which will be called Matthew’s day, fathers and sons, mother’s and daughters are welcome to come down where we will be playing a game of rugby to bring in the new year against one another.  Please watch out for further details on our facebook page.

I would like to thank everybody for all that you have done in our time of need and hope that we don’t have a further 2 months like we have had for a long long time.  On a happier note, we have 3 upcoming events, our annual quiz night will be held on Saturday 7th March, our annual club dinner will be held on Saturday 18th April.  During the day we will be having the Presidents/Wally select versus the first team.  We are fortunate to have a past president of the SRU, Jim Stevenson as our guest speaker.  The dinner is a celebration of everything that is good about our club and everyone is welcome.  On Friday 8th May, we are having our 2nd ball at the Erskine Bridge Hotel where we have the good fortune to have John Beattie’s band playing.  John as many of you know is a past captain of Scotland and a former test British Lion.
